Germany’s Academy System: The Gold Standard

Step 4 — Top-Level Development (18+): Transition to reserve sides (U23/second teams) and, ultimately, the first-team squad, with advanced performance monitoring and direct links to senior professional football.
The DFB’s “Projekt Zukunft” (Future Project), launched in 2018, adds data-driven assessment and systematic oversight across the entire pathway.

The Realistic Timeline
There are no shortcuts to the Bundesliga pathway. A realistic trajectory for an international player might involve:
- Preparation phase (6–12 months at Bali SBK): Building the technical, tactical, and mental foundation; initial conversations with contacts.
- Assessment opportunity: A trial, ID camp, or scouting event facilitated through Bali SBK’s network.
- Integration phase: If accepted, a transition period into the NLZ system, typically beginning with an age-group team.
